MEMBERSHIP FAQs

I entered Ateneo de Naga High School in 1987 but finished studies there for only one (1) year, am I considered a member of the association?

Yes. Under our By-Laws, we have defined regular members of the association as “any or all former students of Ateneo de Naga high school who enrolled and studied in said school in 1987 without necessarily graduating therefrom in 1991, provided that they had at least completed their first year of studies thereat.”

Under the above definition, you are automatically considered a member of the association and are not differentiated from the others who graduated in said school in 1991. Thus, whether you transferred to another school, discontinued your studies, or graduated high school in later years whether at Ateneo de Naga or in another school and belong to another batch, you are still considered a regular member of the association.

What then will differentiate a regular member who regularly involves himself in the affairs of the association and participates in its activities from those who do not?

We distinguish our members into those who are of good standing and those who are not of good standing. To be recognized as a member of good standing, the primary consideration is the payment of the annual membership fee. Thus, even if you are prevented from physically participating in the activities of the association due to such reasons as far geographical distance, disability, etc., you may still be recognized as a member of good standing as long as you are updated in your payment of the annual membership dues.

How much is the membership fee and for how long do I have to pay for it? What if I cannot afford to pay the membership fee?

The Board of Trustees determines the amount of the membership fee. Approved schedules of fees and of other assessments, if any, will be published in our website. Annual membership fees shall be made minimal so as to be affordable to everyone. Payment of annual membership fee shall be for a maximum of five (5) years, upon full payment of which, whether annually or by one-time payment, the member shall be considered a lifetime member of the association. If you cannot truly afford the membership fee, you may intimate your concern to any of the officers or trustees who may then ask other members to be your sponsor.

I have not been in touch with the association for quite a long time, and I observed that members seem to have developed into such close circle of friends, how then do I fill myself in the group?

We want you to be back in the fold just like in the old days. We are sad to see you shying away from the association as you are much a part of it. And we will stretch our arms just to pull you in. As you may have not known, many of the closer friendships within the association have developed only after 1991 or only much later due to their shared activities and interests. Many have not even been classmates during their school years having been segregated through the LG system at Ateneo. Despite having been segregated by the LG system, the ideal of being men for others imbued by the school into these students have broken down the LG walls that separated them in school and developed them into a bunch of mature and socially responsible citizens who shall be models to their children and the society at large.

At present, members of the association are no longer divided according to their learning groups but are now pulled together into interest groups. Many are grouped together according to their sports interest as soccer, basketball, biking, etc. Some are also grouped together by their geographical location, profession, and other interests. Members of the batch are all over the world. Thus, you can easily fill yourself in wherever you may be. If you can come to Naga, you may even play a game in the Ateneo Alumni League subject to the league’s or the ADNAA’s (ADNUGAA) terms and conditions.

How many members does the association have? Are there those who moved to other schools or did not graduate at Ateneo de Naga in 1991 but who actively participate in the activities of the association?

The association has 282 members who graduated at Ateneo de Naga in 1991. During their first year at the school in 1987, there were nine LGs. Each of these nine LGs has about 40 students leading to a total of 360 students more or less. Thus, about 78 members did not march for graduation together with the majority the batch. However, a handful of them do regularly come to the reunion every 30th of December of each year and a handful do actively participate in the activities of the association.
